Roosevelt was the first great president who said what he believed. He was born to lead, and was confident of his own incites or beliefs. He moved back and forth with a tough look on his face, but soon could not walk because of polio, which he had gotten when he was 39 years old. He was married to Elenore Roosevelt for about 40 years until Roosevelt passed away in which he was shot and killed in Georgia in 1945. He was the 32nd U.S. president in 1933 and was the only president who was elected four times.

Even though in the 1930’s people had thought that it was a big mistake he also led World War II. Roosevelt expanded the laws of the federal government through a series of programs known as the New Deal. In this situation that FDR was in, he was leading the country through one of the most consequential periods in history. For instance the Pearl Harbor, which was prepared for on December 7, 1941, and the Great Depression. The United States wanted to militarily aid Great Britain and other nations without actually having to declare war on Germany and Italy. FDR’s goal was to provide more aid to Great Britain and France, even though he knew that the United States was on it’s way to war whether it wanted to or not.

Martin Luther king was born on January 15, 1929. After Rosa Parks refuses to give up her seat on a bus to a white man the African-American community organizes a boycott of Montgomery public transportation. King is chosen to lead the boycott. Over the next year, he is arrested and jailed, his house is bombed and his life threatened.
At the age of thirty-five, Martin Luther King, Jr, was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize. When notified of his selection, he announced that he would turn over the prize money of $54,123 to the furtherance of the civil rights movement. During the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, King delivers his famous "I Have A Dream" speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. The demonstration is attended by more than 250,000 people, one of the largest ever in Washington up to that time.
